How do I access the latest version of Burp Suite Professional software?

Burp Suite Professional will prompt you on start-up if a new version is available to download. You can also download the latest version of the software by clicking on the links in the Download Burp section of your account page on portswigger.net.

What operating systems does Burp Suite Professional software run on?

Burp Suite Professional requires a computer with the official Java Runtime Environment (64-bit edition, version 1.7 or later) installed. JREs are available for various popular operating systems, including Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. If you are unsure whether your computer is suitable, you should first test the free community edition of Burp Suite on your computer to satisfy yourself that it works correctly.

What are the system requirements for running Burp Suite Professional software?

For the best experience with Burp Suite Professional, we recommend using a machine with at least 8 GB of memory and 2 CPU cores. If you are performing large amounts of work, or testing large or complex applications, you may need more memory than this. If you are unsure whether your computer is suitable, we recommend first testing Burp Suite Community Edition on your machine to satisfy yourself that it works correctly.

Can I use Burp Suite Professional on a machine that does not have access to the internet?

To use Burp Suite Professional software on a machine not connected to the internet, you can use the manual activation method and perform the activation on a different machine using only a browser. You will need a means of transferring the activation challenge and response between the installation machine and the activation machine. These are short bits of plain text.

How do I access the latest version of Burp Suite Enterprise Edition software?

In the web UI, go to the updates settings, which can be accessed via the burger menu. You will be able to view the currently installed software and any available updates. You can install updates manually or automatically. Note that applying updates might result in some downtime. See the documentation for further details.

Can I use Burp Suite Enterprise software on a machine that does not have access to the internet?

The Enterprise server needs to access portswigger.net on port 443, to carry out license activation and software updates. Note that this access is needed for ongoing usage of the software, not only during initial installation. You can configure a network proxy if this is needed to reach the public web.
