Create an agentic test to let Burp AT test one of your sites for you.

Before you start, add the site that you want to test. You can test only sites on which you have the Use agentic testing permission. For details, see Managing access to Burp AT.

Select User-guided AI to approve risky or destructive steps before Burp AT runs them. Select Full AI autonomy to let Burp AT run without pausing, either straight away or on a schedule.

Running a User-guided AI test

With User-guided AI, you give Burp AT an objective in a chat and approve its steps as it works.

  1. Go to Agentic tests > Create agentic test.
  2. Select User-guided AI.
  3. Optional: In Name the test, enter a name for the test.
  4. In Select the site to test, select a site.
  5. Click Set objective. The test page opens.
  6. In the chat, enter what you want to test and send the message. For example, Make sure the login process is secure.

You do not need to describe the site in your objective. Burp AT uses the scope and authentication settings of the site, and any context that you set for the site.

To review what Burp AT finds, see Reviewing issues and discovered URLs.

Approving steps in a User-guided AI test

Burp AT asks for your approval in the chat before it runs a risky or destructive step. To respond:

  • Click Approve to let Burp AT run the step.
  • Click Reject to decline the step.
  • Click Reject & redirect to decline the step and tell Burp AT what to do instead.

Running a Full AI autonomy test

  1. Go to Agentic tests > Create agentic test.
  2. Select Full AI autonomy.
  3. In Select the site to test, select a site.
  4. Optional: In Set objectives, enter context for Burp AT. For example, describe what the application is for, and any areas or issues to focus on.

  6. In Start test, select As soon as possible. To start later, select Schedule for and set a date and time.
  7. In Test schedule, select Run once. To repeat the test, select Repeat every and set the interval and the days of the week. You can repeat the test indefinitely, a set number of times, or until a date.
  8. Click Create test.
