This release introduces multi-factor authentication (MFA) for enhanced security and compliance. Additionally, you can now add descriptions to your folders. We are also announcing the discontinuation of the macOS version of Burp Suite Enterprise Edition. Affected users are advised to transition to a supported platform, with assistance available from our support team.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA)

We've enhanced login security by introducing multi-factor authentication (MFA) to Burp Suite Enterprise Edition. Administrators can now activate MFA for all users via Settings > Multi-factor authentication. Once enabled, all users will be prompted to set up MFA when they next log in. This feature strengthens security by adding an extra verification step. It also helps ensure compliance with relevant security regulations. This feature does not affect users logging in via SAML.

Folder descriptions

You can now add descriptions to your folders in Burp Suite Enterprise Edition, helping you to stay organized and making collaboration easier. This feature is also available to users of the GraphQL API.

Discontinuation of Burp Suite Enterprise Edition for macOS

We are focusing our efforts where they can deliver the greatest impact. As part of this strategy, the macOS version of Burp Suite Enterprise Edition is being discontinued.

Please be aware of the following key dates:

  • Final macOS version: This version of Burp Suite Enterprise Edition (2024.5) includes the last available installer for macOS. Future releases will not include a macOS version.
  •
  • Continued macOS updates: We will continue to provide updates and support for the macOS version up to August 2024 (2024.8). During this period, we will address any critical issues and provide necessary patches.

As a result of these changes, there will no longer be a native macOS installer for the Burp Suite Enterprise Edition server or scanning machines. However, you will still be able to access the Burp Suite Enterprise Edition UI on a mac.

We encourage our macOS users to start planning your transition to supported platforms. Please refer to our documentation to review the options for hosting your Burp Suite Enterprise Edition instance. Our support team is available to assist with any questions or concerns you may have about migrating your operations or setting up a different OS. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at support@portswigger.net.

Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership.
