Director of IT
I was born in China, then came to England in 1999 for education. I got my first job as a web developer before I graduated from University of Salford. Since then, my career has progressed really well, and I decided to stay in this lovely country. My professional life always involves technology, and I think it always will! I've worked as a web engineer, a systems engineer, a solution architect, an enterprise architect, and very recently, as the director of IT here at PortSwigger. I task myself to bring a modern, secure, and easy-to-maintain IT to both the company infrastructure and all our cloud-based products.
This is a really hard question to answer, as every single day is the best day in PortSwigger. Everyone is supportive, great to work with, and always open to new (sometimes crazy!) ideas.
I heard about (and used) Burp Suite about two years ago when I worked as architect for an online gambling company. Since then, I have heard this name being mentioned over and over again by internal testing engineers and external pentesters. It hasn't stopped being mentioned in fact!
I got a Commodore 64 when I was about eleven years old and learnt BASIC, my first programming language, on it. I got a x86 PC around two years later, and that was when I made probably the best decision of my life. My career, and my whole life, must have computers involved!
I am building a home automation system which involves CCTV, intrusion detection, and an alerting system with AI - it involves hundreds of sensors, switches, and relays.
