Start Burp Suite Enterprise Edition for the first time

Now that you've installed Burp Suite Enterprise Edition successfully, let's open it up and activate your license.

Open Burp Suite Enterprise Edition

  1. From the machine on which you just installed Burp Suite Enterprise Edition, open the browser and go to http://127.0.0.1:8080. The Burp Suite Enterprise Edition login page opens.
  2. Log in with the administrator username and password that you created in the installation wizard. If you have forgotten these credentials, you will unfortunately have to restart the installation process and use the wizard to generate a new administrator user.

You will be taken to the home page, where you will be prompted to upload your license key or configure a proxy.

Configure an HTTP proxy

Note: This step is only necessary if your organization does not allow you to access the public internet directly. If you can access the internet from the machine on which you installed Burp Suite Enterprise Edition, you can skip straight to activating your license.

In order to activate your license, the Enterprise server must be able to connect to portswigger.net on port 443. If you are not able to connect to the public internet from your machine, you'll need to configure an HTTP proxy.

  1. From the home page, click "Configure proxy settings".
  2. Activate the "Enable proxy" switch.
  3. Enter the details of your proxy server, including any authentication credentials if necessary.
  4. Click "Save and continue". You can now proceed to activating your license by clicking "Upload license key" when prompted.
