Assigning scan limits

The Scanning machine settings page shows a list of all scanning machines that you have set up and authorized. For each scanning machine, various details are shown, including its name, IP address, status, and the maximum number of concurrent scans that it can run. To get to this page, click on the settings cog icon at the top right of the page and select Scanning machine settings.

This page explains how to configure fixed scanning machines as part of a standard deployment. For information on how to use cloud-based auto-scaling scanning, see the Managing auto scaling scan resources page.

You should make sure that each machine would be able to cope when running its maximum number of concurrent scans. We recommend starting low and increasing the maximum number of concurrent scans on a machine slowly to see what affect this has on performance.

To change a scanning machine's maximum concurrent scans, from the Scanning machine settings page, hover the mouse over the machine on which you want to amend the scan limit. Under Max concurrent scans, use the plus or minus icons to increase or decrease the maximum number of concurrent scans for that machine.

On standard deployments, you can click on the Scanning pools tab to create scanning pools and assign machines to them. For more details, see Managing scanning pools.

Scanning pools are not available on Kubernetes deployments of Burp Suite Enterprise Edition, as these deployments are designed to scale scanning resources automatically.

At the bottom of the page, you can see the total number of concurrent scans that you can run across all your machines, as well as the remaining number of concurrent scans that you are licensed to run.
